OCA in partnership with Eastern Crane Rentals Inc. is pleased to offer a specialized safety awareness course tailored for employees of General Contractors and/or Constructors, as defined under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) for construction projects.

The curriculum focuses on practical tools and regulatory awareness to help constructors meet their obligations and improve site safety outcomes.

Course Topics Include:

  1. An overview of a constructor’s responsibilities regarding site safety under the OHSA for construction projects
  2. Specific responsibilities related to mobile hydraulic cranes working on the constructor’s site
  3. Some of the tools available to constructors for ensuring crane and hoisting safety:
    1. The Liftplan
    2. Risk/Hazard Assessments
    3. Tailgate Meetings
  4. Introduction to digital tools that streamline the use of these safety practices—making them easier for employees to complete and more efficient for management to review and extract safety metrics
